Bennington Lake is a reservoir just miles from Walla Walla's downtown. The area includes a paved creek side lane and miles of gravel roads and trails perfect for mountain biking, running, and walking. The park includes many canine friendly areas. Local wildlife includes waterfowl, deer and occasionally a cougar or fox. The trail around the lake is five miles. The lake is stocked with rainbow trout by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. Boating is allowed, but gasoline-powered motors are prohibited. Wear bright colors when enjoying the trails as hunting is permitted in specified areas around Bennington Lake. Maps of walking trails and designated hunting areas are available at the ranger station. Restrooms are located just off the parking area at the station. Rooks park is located on Mill Creek which Bennington Lake. the park includes a grassy area, picnic tables, a playground, public restrooms, a top-of-the-dam viewing area and a bridge over the creek. The park is open from 7:15 am until sunset daily. The entrance to Rooks Park is open year-round to walk-in traffic and seasonally closed to vehicles from October 15 to April 1. During the off season restrooms are sometimes closed. The trail around Bennington Lake and surrounding wild grass area is open year-round 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 pm.
